What is Railtour Italia?
Railtour Italia is a space dedicated to Italian events with historical
trains. Railtour Italia lists the schedule of most special trains
with vintage locomotives and rolling stock that will be operated
in Italy.
Why Railtour Italia started?
Railtour Italia is on-line from June 2001 to collect and
communicate information on special trains with Italian historical
rolling stock. The idea for this site came visiting www.uksteam.info
- a website that lists all details on steam trains operated along
the British main lines - and observing that nothing similar existed
in Italy. Another website on steam trains in the United States,
www.steamcentral.com,
was started in the same manner.
Whom Railtour Italia addresses to?
Railtour Italia is very well known among railfans. However, we aim
to reach people and families that like beautiful landscapes and
green tourism, those who look for a different touristic experience
or an original trip, those nostalgic of the beautiful old times
although they do not know too much about railways. If you find yourself
in one of these profiles or if simply you would like to spend your
spare time in a different way, Railtour Italia can provide you useful
advise to organize your trip on a historical train.
When Railtour Italia will be updated next?
Very soon. We update the website any time we are notified a change
or a new date. That occurs twice per week, average. In general,
we update immediately when the notice regards a trip in the current
week. Changes relevant to a later scheduled date will be updated
at the earliest opportunity.
What is the timetable of the train scheduled
on [day and month] leaving from [departure station]
to [arrival station]?
Practically, all information and timetables we are aware
of will be on-line in real time.
I am certain that on [day and month]
a special train is scheduled from [departure station] to
[arrival station] but I have not seen any details on Railtour
Italia: why?
Most likely you refer to a restricted access train. Possible news
or details on restricted access trains like photographic trains
for railfans or trains chartered by tour operators for groups will
be listed on Railtour Italia if public domain.
Where could I park to take a train at [departure
station]?
Most likely we will not be able to answer a question like this.
How can I travel on a historical steam train?
We invite you to read the 'useful travel advise'. Please contact
us if you wish to know any other details.
Would you link our website from Railtour Italia?
We will be pleased to link your site if we elect it to be
in connection with the subject of the this site. Please provide
us your URL and we will visit your site. You will have to link Railtour
Italia if we will elect to link your site.
Could you show one of my photos on Railtour
Italia?
We did not plan to create a photographic site. Occasionally, we
could dedicate a temporary page to a significant event. You will
find possible requests to send photos on our home page. Please contact
us before sending any photos.
Is it possible to chat on Railtour Italia?
No, sorry. This website has not a chat room.
What information can I find on Railtour Italia?
On Railtour Italia you will find the name of the event, the route,
type of traction, class of locomotive and whenever possible a page
with details of the journey.
