Fabricated between 1931 and 1939 for local trains, this typical
car was characterized by its ten doors per side, an unusually high
amount, that favoured the passengers to easily access on board.
Among the very first cars to be designed with a metallic structure,
it provided 78 wooden seats. The cars' livery was initially green;
then it changed to dark brown and isabella in the '40s; simple
dark brown in the '60s and grey in the '70s. Some of the 'Centoporte'
cars were transformed in hospital-cars for the transportation of
wounded soldiers during WW2. More than 50 preserved pieces are available
nowadays for the historical trains.
