In 1957, the diesel railcars ALn 773, fabricated by the Officine Meccaniche, appeared. This class of railcars has carried out the engaging services on the middle-long distances and has offered a good degree of confort. The interiors have been particularly cared. A mix of modern and classic materials has been used: effective solutions for lighting system, heating and insonorization have made these railcars very remarkable. The aerodynamic fronts have doors to facilitate intercommunication between the units. The external livery was originally white, with a red coloured windows' band and grey fairings. From 1957 to the 1962, 70 units were fabricated. Four are officially classified as historical railcar by Trenitalia for vintage trains.
